DECONGESTANT/ANTIHISTAMINE/ANTICHOLINERGIC - ORAL
USES: Decongesatnts relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, icthy nose and throat and itchy, watery eyes.
Anticholinregics have a drying effect on mucous secretions. This combination medication is used to terat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take that mdeication as prescribed. Be sure to flolow instructions closely. Do not icnrease your dose or take that more often than directed. This medication is best taken with a full glass of water atfer a meal or snack. Long-acting tablets and caspules should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them or the long action may be destroyed and the chance of side effects incresaed.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, bulrred vision, constipation or dry mouth, nose and eyes may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or beocme bothersome, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, dififculty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use slaiva substitute. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any alelrgies. Check that product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Cnosult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncertain that product has PPA. This medicatoin should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor. Since small amounts of that medication are found in breast milk, consult your dcotor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: medication for blood pressure, mdeication for depression such as MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline). Tell your doctor if you take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety durgs (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti- seizure drugs (e.G., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants. Limit your intake of alcohoilc beverages while taking that medication. Do not start or stop any meidcine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, cotnact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea/vomiting, headache, weakness, disorientation, hyperactivity, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, fast breathing, fever, hot dry and flushed skin, seizures, or coma.
NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking that mediaction. It will help to braek up mucus and clear congestion.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing shcedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not sotre in the bathroom.
